The employees of the Central Criminal Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Customs Department of the Revenue Service under the Ministry of Finance, as a result of jointly conducted measures and investigative activities, arrested the citizen of a foreign country- N.D. (DoB 1985) at Batumi International Airport.
The mentioned person is charged with the illegal purchase, storage and transportation of a particularly large amount of marijuana and the illegal importation of a particularly large amount of narcotics into Georgia.
The committed crimes envision from 15 to 20 years or life imprisonment.
The investigation established that N.D. brought narcotics to Georgia from the Republic of South Africa.
As a result of luggage inspection held at the Batumi International Airport, law enforcement officers seized 11 kg. and 200 grams of narcotic drug - "Marijuana" from the previously arranged cache in the passenger bag.
The investigation is being carried out under Article 262, Part IV, Sub-Clause "A" and Article 273 (1), Part VI of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which stipulates illegal importation of a large amount of narcotic drugs into Georgia, as well as the illegal purchase, storage and transportation of a large amount of marijuana.
