The officers of the Ministry of Internal Affairs as a result of the investigation, seized illegal firearms in Tbilisi, Shida Kartli, Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti, Kakheti and Mtskheta-Mtianeti regions and detained 6 people.
As a result of operative-investigative activities carried out by the Main Division for Fighting Organized Crime under the Central Criminal Police Department, previously convicted B.Kh. (DoB 1977) has been detained in Tbilisi for illegal purchase and storage of firearms. During the search of his house, law enforcement officers seized “TT” firearm, a magazine and 8 cartridges as evidence.
The officers of Kaspi Police Division of Shida Kartli Police Department detained previously convicted T.G. (DoB 1992) for illegal purchase and storage of firearms and ammunition. Law enforcement officers seized a pistol and 4 ammunition cartridges from the house of the accused located in Kaspi Municipality as evidence.
Mtskheta-Mtianeti Police Department detained formerly convicted M.B. (DoB 1990) for illegal purchase and storage of firearms and ammunition. During the search of the detainee's apartment, the police detected a shotgun - so-called "Abrez" and 9 ammunition cartridges as evidence.
The officers of Gurjaani Police Division of Kakheti Police Department detained T.Z. (DoB 1971) for illegal purchase and storage of firearms.
During the search activities held in his house in the village of Bakurtsikhe, law enforcement officers seized an unregistered shotgun as evidence.
The officers of Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti Police Department detained R.P. (DoB 1964) in Zugdidi for illegal purchase, storage and carrying of firearms and ammunition. Law enforcement officers, during the search of his vehicle, seized an automatic firearm as evidence.
The officers of Abasha District Division arrested D.M. (DoB 1963) for illegal purchase and storage of ammunition. During the search activities held in his home, police seized a hand grenade and 3 fuses of TNT as evidence.
The committed crime envisions from 3 to 7 years of imprisonment.
Investigation is underway on the fact of illegal purchase and storage of firearms and ammunition under article 236, III and IV parts of the Criminal Code of Georgia.
