The employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, as a result of the operative search measures and investigative actions, recently seized illegal firearms and ammunition in Tbilisi, Shida Kartli, Samegrelo, Mtskheta-Mtianeti and Adjara.
8 persons have been arrested on charges of illegal purchase, storage and carrying of firearms and ammunition, and 1 person has been exposed for this crime.
Employees of the Patrol Police Department arrested S.C, born in 1989, convicted of various crimes in the past.
Police seized the Makarov system fire pistol, the muzzle and the cartridges as evidence.
Employees of the Tbilisi Police Department arrested, G.M., born in 1995, convicted of various serious crimes in the past and currently serving a suspended sentence. He was on the charge of illegal purchase-storage-carrying of firearms and ammunition. Police recovered a firearm, one muzzle and cartridges from the accused as evidence.
Z.S., born in 1978, was arrested by Samegrelo police. He was arrested in Martvili municipality on charges of illegal purchase and storage of firearms. During the search of the house of the accused, a single-barreled rifle, a single-barreled shotgun, and 6 cartridges of different calibers were recovered.
The employees of Mtskheta-Mtianeti Police Department arrested G.M., born in 1962. He was in Dusheti municipality on charges of illegal purchase and storage of firearms and ammunition. Law enforcement officers, as a result of the search of the accused's residence, removed a "Parabellum" type pistol as evidence.
The employees of Shida Kartli Police Department and Central Criminal Police Department, as a result of jointly conducted measures, arrested V.K., born in 1990. Police seized a Makarov system pistol, a muzzle and 8 cartridges as evidence.
The employees of the Shida Kartli Police Department arrested Z.I., born in 1967, on the basis of the judge's ruling, in Gori on charges of illegal purchase and storage of firearms and ammunition, G.Ch., born in 1963 who were exposed in the same crime.
As a result of the search conducted in the houses of the defendants, the law enforcement officers removed a "Beretta" type pistol, a large number of ammunition cartridges of different calibers, as well as muzzles as evidence.
The employees of the Adjara Police Department arrested K.G., born in 1983, convicted in the past. He was in Batumi. As a result of the personal search of the accused, a "Beretta" firearm and 5 cartridges were recovered as evidence.
R.D., born in 1974, who was arrested by the employees of the Adjara Police Department, was convicted in the past. As a result of the personal search of the accused, the law enforcement officers recovered a fire pistol and 11 ammunition cartridges as evidence.
Crimes are punishable by 3 to 7 years of imprisonment.
The investigation into the facts of illegal purchase, storage and carrying of firearms and ammunition is being conducted under the 3rd and 4th parts of Article 236 of the Criminal Code of Georgia.
