Officers of the Central Criminal Police of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Tbilisi, Adjara, Kakheti, Shida Kartli, Kvemo Kartli, Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti, Guria and Imereti Police Departments, as a result of recent operational measures and investigative actions, seized illegal firearms and ammunition - 18 people were arrested.
The following persons have been detained for the illegal purchase, storage, carrying and illegal importation of firearms and ammunition into Georgia: G.Ch., born in 1979, J.J., born in 1984, M.K., born in 1965, R.D., born in 1995, V.Ts., born in 1984, R.R., born in 1982, T.J., born in 1965, T.P., born in 1996. and previously convicted persons: V.Sh. born in 1975, B.G. born in 1993, M.A. born in 1986, R.D. born in 1992, I.I. born in 1990, K.Kh. born in 1985, B.K. born in 1984, E.B. born in 1989, N.Ch. born in 2005 and Z.G. born in 1979
The committed crimes envision up to 8 years of imprisonment.
As a result of the personal search and search activities held in their residential houses and vehicles, law enforcement officers seized various types of firearms and ammunition as evidence, including machine guns, pistols, revolvers, hand grenades, pistols, a large amount of cartridges and a silencer. The police also seized narcotics “Alpha PVP” and “marijuana” from some of the detained persons. The investigation is underway under Articles 236, 214, 260 and 273 of the Criminal Code of Georgia.
