The employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, as a result of recently carried out operative-search measures and investigative activities, arrested 20 people in Tbilisi and the regions of the country for illegal purchase, storage and carrying of firearms and ammunition.
As a result of the search conducted by law enforcement officers, illegal weapons and ammunition were seized as evidence.
The committed envisions imprisonment from 3 to 7 years.
The employees of Tbilisi Police Department's Main Investigative Division and Detectives’ Division as a result of jointly conducted at different times, detained 3 persons - J.M. (DoB 1972), L. A. (DoB 1981) and Z.M. (DoB 1984 for illegal purchase, storage and carrying of firearms and ammunition.
As a result of personal search and search activities of residential houses of the accused persons, the law enforcement officers seized various types of weapons and cartridges as evidence.
Employees of the Vake-Saburtalo police main division of Tbilisi Police Department, detained A.A. (DoB 1998). and previously convicted G.A. (DoB1993). As a result of the personal search and search activities held in their vehicles, law enforcement officers seized 2 firearms, 3 magazines and 35 cartridges as evidence.
The employees of the same division, as a result of operational measures and investigative actions conducted at different times, detained 2 persons, convicted in the past, D.Kh (DoB 1999) and G. Ch. (DoB 1968). Police seized a firearm, a pistol, 2 magazines, 18 cartridges and a cold weapon as evidence.
Employees of Didube-Chugureti police Main Division of Tbilisi Police Department, detained T.G. (DoB 1990) and V.C. (DoB 1989) at different times. Law enforcement officers, as a result of the search of the residential places of the defendants, seized 2 pistols, 2 magazines and 6 cartridges as evidence.
As a result of operational measures and investigative activities carried out at different times, the employees of the Kharagauli and Terjola district police divisions under Imereti Police Department arrested 2 persons - V.S. (DoB 1981) and previously convicted K.K. (DoB 1980). As a result of the search of the residential places of the defendants and the auxiliary storage, the police seized a fire pistol, an automatic fire weapon and a magazine as evidence.
The employees of the same police department, together with the employees of Shida Kartli police department, detained previously convicted D.Ts. (DoB 1982). As a result of the search of the house of the accused person, a fire pistol, 4 magazines and 78 cartridges were seized as evidence.
The employees of Mestia, Senaki, Tsalenjikha and Martvili district police divisions under Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti Police Department, as a result of operational measures and investigative actions carried out at different times detained 4 persons – previously convicted J.D. (DoB 1993), A.T. (DoB 1992), N.V. (DoB 1981) and K.Dz. (DoB 1977).
As a result of the search of personal search and search activities held in detainees’ residential houses and vehicles, police seized 4 automatic firearms, 3 pistols, 2 hunting rifles, 4 magazines, 51 cartridges and a small-caliber rifle as evidence.
The employees of investigative division of Kakheti Police Department and Akhmeta regional police division of the same department, as a result of operational measures and investigative actions conducted at different times detained 2 persons - P.K. (DoB 1990). and L.A. (DoB 1988). As a result of the personal search and search activities held in residential houses of the accused persons, the law enforcement officers removed 2 fire pistols with 25 cartridges and a magazine as evidence.
The employees of Oni district police division of Racha-Lechkhumi and Kvemo Svaneti Police Department detained V.G. (DoB 1982). As a result of the search of the residential house, the following ammunition was seized as evidence: the so-called cut gun and 24 cartridges.
The employees of Dusheti District Police Division of Mtskheta-Mtianeti Police Department, detained O.Ts. (DoB 1972). As a result of the search of the house of the accused person, the law enforcement officers seized an automatic firearm, a machine gun, 8 magazines and 400 cartridges as evidence.
The investigation into the fact of illegal purchase, storage and carrying of firearms and ammunition is being conducted under Article 236, III and IV parts of the Criminal Code of Georgia.
