The officers of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, as a result of operative-investigative measures and investigative activities, recently seized illegal firearms, as well as illegal ammunition in Samegrelo, Svaneti, Shida Kartli and Imereti municipalities and arrested 3 people, while exposed two more.
The officers of Mestia Police Division of Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti Police Department detained D.Ch., (DoB 10981) in one of the villages of Mestia Municipality on charges of illegal purchase and storage of firearms. Law enforcement officers, during the search held in detainee’s house, seized automatic firearms and ammunition as evidence.
The officers of Martvili District Division of the same department arrested V.Ch., (DoB 1987) in Martvili, for illegal carrying of firearms and ammunition. Police seized a pistol and 38 cartridges as evidence from the vehicle in which the accused person was traveling.
The officers of Kaspi Police Division of Shida Kartli Police Department detained R.E. (DoB 1954) and I.G. (DoB 1967), were exposed at various times for illegal purchase and storage of firearms and ammunition. During search activities held in R.E.'s residential house in Kaspi Municipality, law enforcement officers seized: 2 rifles, 152 cartridges and 4 explosive detonators as evidence, while Makarov pistol and cartridges were seized as evidence from I.G.
The officers of Detectives Division of Imereti, Racha-Lechkhumi and Kvemo Svaneti Police Department arrested M.Kh., (DoB 1998 in Kutaisi for illegal purchase and storage of firearms. Police seized a pistol and a cartridge as evidence as a result of a search of a gas station owned by the accused.
The committed crime envisions from 3 to 7 years of imprisonment.
The facts of illegal purchase, storage and carrying of firearms and ammunition are being investigated under the Article 236, III and IV parts of the Criminal Code of Georgia.
