The officers of Imereti, Racha-Lechkhumi and Kvemo Svaneti Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs along with the officers of the Special Tasks Department, as a result of jointly held operative-search and investigative activities detained previously convicted P.G. (DoB 1948) for having connections with the so called “Thieves’ World” on the basis of the relevant Court decision.
The committed crime envisages from 3 to 7 years of imprisonment.
Investigation established that detainee, who is the co-owner of one of the restaurants located in Kutaisi, contacted Georgian “Thieves in Law” residing in Turkey- B.K. and R.Dz. in order to settle the dispute with the private entrepreneurs regarding the debt he owned and for negotiating the disagreement in his favor.
As a result of the criminal skirmish, “Thieves in Law” settled the disagreement in favor of P.G. while his business partner became obliged to pay the restaurant debt in the amount of 200 000 US dollars.
As a result of the operative-investigative police activities P.G. was taken under arrest in Kutaisi.
In the course of the personal search and searching activities held in detainee’s house, law enforcers seized computer technic and mobile phone as evidence which was used to get in touch with the “Thieves in Law” living abroad.
Investigation is in progress on the fact of contacting the “Thieves in Law” article 2234, part I envisaged by the Criminal Code of Georgia.
