Ministry of Internal Affairs continues fight against illegal circulation of drugs throughout the country and actively provides society with the information regarding solved cases and detained persons. Within the last month, law enforcers solved cases of drug crime, seized drugs in especially large quantities and detained several individuals.
The officers of the Main Division for the Fight Against illegal Drug Circulation under the Central Criminal Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs detained six major drug dealers in December as a result of the large-scale operation in Ponichala.
Based on the court decision law enforcers detained: A.J. 9DoB 1958) , R.A. 9DoB 1981) H.J. (DoB 1970) K.J. (DoB 1974), A.M. (DoB 1992) and R.J. 9DoB 1976) who are being accused of illegal purchase-keeping and selling of drugs. Crime committed by the detainees envisages the term of imprisonment from 8 to 20 years or life imprisonment.
In accordance with the court decision, law enforcers managed to purchase drugs covertly from the detainees, which were depicted through audio and video recordings. As a result of search activities held in detainees’ apartments and personal search, police seized 68 packages of the “Heroin” and other drug substances as well as cash as evidence.
It is also worth mentioning, that H.J. (DoB 1970) is accused of illegal purchase and keeping of firearm as well. In the course of the search activities held in H.J’s house police seized “TT” pistol with magazine and 23 bullets.
Investigation is in progress under the articles 260, 261, 273 and 236 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, envisaging selling drugs in especially large quantities, illegal purchase and keeping of Marijuana, firearm and armament.
Beginning from January 1, 2019 the following drugs have been seized by the officers of the Ministry of Internal Affairs as a result of operative-investigative activities: 31000 pills of “Subutex” and “Suboxin”, 32 kg of “Heroin”, 2 kg. and 200 gr. of “Cocaine” 22 kg. and 10 liters of the drug substance “Alpha PVP”, 10 kg, and 500 gr. of new psychotropic substance and up to 2 kg. of psychotropic pills.
