From November 1, 2015 citizens willing to purchase firearms and gas weapons will have to pass exams at the Service Agency with the purpose of boosting general knowledge on firearms, safe use and consumption services.
Citizens will pass exams on short barreled firearms and gas weapons, sporting firearms and hunting rifles trade rules knowledge. Exam topics have been drafted in full compliance with the legislation. Citizens will only be allowed to register the firearm in case of passing the above mentioned exam.
Exam will be ranked as passed in case of providing 18 questions out of 20. Citizens will be given 30 minutes to pass the exam.
Exams on arms trade rules will not be obligatory for those who register firearms till November 1. Firearm owner will only have to pass the exam in case of purchasing the new one. It’s also worth noting that after having passed exam citizen will no longer have to pass another exam in case of purchasing weapon of the same type.
Citizens can take an exam at any unit of the Service Agency of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and should submit certificate on mental condition, ID document and receipt of the payment.
Exams will start from November 1. Interested persons will be able to see the examination topics on the official web site of the Service Agency of the Ministry of Internal Affairs- sagency.ge.
