Last month, the employees of Migration Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs deported 60 citizens of different countries from Georgia based on the Law of Georgia "On the Legal Status of Foreigners and Stateless Persons". Some of the citizens of foreign countries left Georgia voluntarily, while some were deported from the country as a result of measures taken by the employees of Migration Department.
60 citizens of Turkey, Azerbaijan, Iran, Russia, India, Turkmenistan, Bangladesh, Lebanon, Iraq, Nigeria, Jordan, Algeria, Egypt and Ghana were deported from the territory of Georgia based on the Law of Georgia "On the Legal Status of Foreigners and Stateless Persons". Among the deported are individuals who were involved in various anti-social activities on the territory of Georgia.
It should be noted that as a result of active coordination between the Department of Migration and the relevant units of the Ministry, as of October 2024, 384 foreign citizens were deported from Georgia, which is 26% more compared to the same period of the previous year. The number of persons who left the country voluntarily as part of the expulsion procedure has also increased, amounting to 323 persons, which is 60.7% higher than the previous year's data.
The Migration Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs is actively working on the further development of the mechanisms for combating illegal migration and bringing them closer to international standards. Significant legislative changes are planned to further increase the Department's capacity to provide effective procedures for the deportation of persons without a legal basis.
