Throughout the last month, the employees of Migration Department under the Ministry of Internal Affairs deported 33 foreign citizens from Georgia based on the Law of Georgia "On the Legal Status of Foreigners and Stateless Persons". Some of the citizens of foreign countries left Georgia voluntarily, while some were expelled from the country as a result of the measures taken by the Migration Department.
On the basis of the Law of Georgia "On the Legal Status of Foreigners and Stateless Persons" - A total of 33 citizens of the Islamic Republic of Iran, the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, the Republic of India, the Republic of Turkey, the Arab Republic of Egypt, the Republic of Azerbaijan, Australia, the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, the Federal Republic of Nigeria, the People's Republic of China, the Republic of Iraq and the Russian Federation have been subject to deportation.
The Migration Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs is the body responsible for the fight against illegal migration within the country. One of its competences is the identification of citizens of foreign countries who are in Georgia without a legal basis and ensure their deportation from the country.
