This year, rescuers of Emergency Situations Management Agency saved 605 Georgian and foreign citizens along Black Sea coast line during storm and emergency situations. Rescuers made quick response on each emergency case and saved citizens from the waves. Among those who were saved the youngest survivor is 5 years old and the oldest-73 years old elderly man.
This year, rescuers found 148 missing children along the Black Sea coast line and safely returned them to their parents.
MIA Emergency Situations Management Agency has selected 135 rescuers for this year's marine season and re-trained them. In order to improve the daily working conditions of rescuers for the new maritime season, the rescue unit was arranged in the Batumi harbour. Twelve sailing means have also undergone renovate works. Rescue checkpoints have been equipped with modern marine rescue equipment, and Georgian and English language banners have been installed in the coastal zone, which will allow tourists to warn about hazardous places for swimming in order to prevent citizens' safety and risks.
