Border police pilots of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and emergency situation management service rescuers who tragically died near Gudauri on July 29, were buried with military honors at the cemeteries in Tbilisi and Bolnisi after the civil funeral. The honor guard honored the memory of the deceased with a special volley, and presented the state flag of Georgia to their families.
Before the funeral ceremony, a civil funeral was held in the Holy Trinity Cathedral in Tbilisi. The Minister of Internal Affairs - Vakhtang Gomelauri, along with his deputies, paid tribute to the memory of the fallen pilots, rescuers, and doctors at the civil funeral and personally expressed his condolences to their families, employees, and relatives.
President - Salome Zurabishvili, Prime Minister - Irakli Gharibashvili with his wife, Head of the State Security Service, Chairman of the Parliament, representatives of the executive and legislative authorities, citizens and employees of the deceased came to the Trinity Cathedral to honor the memory of the pilots, rescuers and doctors who tragically died in the line of duty.
According to the decision of the Minister of Internal Affairs, Vakhtang Gomelauri, the four pilots and two rescuers who died during the tragedy that happened on July 29 were awarded with the I degree medal of the Ministry - "for special merit".
According to the decision of the Prime Minister of Georgia, Irakli Gharibashvili, the families of tragically killed pilots, rescuers and doctors will receive 100 thousand GEL in the form of material assistance.
Those who died during the rescue operation near Gudauri, by the decision of the president, were also awarded with a medal - "for civil sacrifice".
