Giorgi Mghebrishvili took over as the Minister of Internal Affairs of Georgia. Former Minister of Internal Affairs, Vakhtang Gomelauri who now is the head of State Security Service of Georgia met him in the Ministry and wished him success.
“I would like to congratulate Mr. Mghebrishvili on designation. He had been working at the Ministry and I am confident, he will be successful. It’s worth noting, that he had done a lot at the Ministry of Corrections of Georgia. Since 2012, we have started reforms at the Ministry and still the reforms are being implemented according to the plan. It goes without saying, that Irakli has started that was then continued by Lexo, and I am of course following the plan and I am sure, that everything will be done for better. There will be, of course, novelties, in Patrol Police, as well, in the units of Special Forces, you will see. I think, that Mr. Mghebrishvili will be a successful minister”, - stated Vakhtang Gomelauri.
The Minister of Internal Affairs of Georgia spoke on the nearest plans and priorities. “First of all I will go into the detailed analysis of the current situation in the Ministry and only after this I will be able to name priorities, but the main priority for the time being, is, that we have to retain the safety of our residents.
As for the staff changes, some transfers may take place, but it doesn’t mean that somebody will lose position, but I am not able to say this at the stage. Once again I will say, that decisions will be made after thorough analysis. Violations made by employees will be followed by strict response, as well as intolerant combat against criminal”, - stated Giorgi Mghebrishvili.
