Within the frames of working visit to the Federal Republic of Germany the Minister of Internal Affairs of Georgia continues meetings with the Interior Ministers of the Federal Lands.
In Dusseldorf Giorgi Mghebrishvili was hosted by Mr. Bernhard Nebe, the Minister of Interior and Administrative Affairs of Rhine-Westphalia Federal Land.
The meeting was attended by Mr. Lado Chanturia, the Ambassador of Georgian in Germany, Mr. Ivane Papiashvili, the Director of the Central Criminal Police Department of MIA, Mr. Shalva Kvinikhidze, the Director of International Relations Department of MIA and other members of the delegation.
The Minister of Interior and Administrative Affairs of Rhine-Westphalia Federal Land emphasized the significance of the offer of the Georgian side related to deepening of mutual cooperation within the frames of the exchange of information and specific projects. "We know that you have done a lot in Georgia in terms of combating organized crime. I am sure that we will cooperate successfully and productively in Germany as well, "- said Mr. Bernhard Nebe during the conversation with Mr. Giorgi Mghebrishvili.
The Minister of Internal Affairs of Georgia says that the analysis of a great deal of information received from German colleagues during his visit to German Federal Lands allows accurate identification of the action plan. "We are ready to move on to a new stage of relations and make joint, specific steps in fight against crime. In the fight against crime, we are ready to provide you with the necessary information. With necessary information we will always stay one step ahead of criminals"- said Mr. Giorgi Mghebrishvili.
The meeting focused on the crimes committed by the citizens of Georgia in Germany; it was noted that the general number of illegal activities is not large, while it still creates some problems. The German side once again stressed its position that nobody in Georgia is persecuted, though the citizens of Georgia get unfaithful use of the long-term asylum procedure in Germany. Accordingly, joint efforts are needed to deal with this problem.
Mr. Giorgi Mghebrishvili and Mr. Bernhard Nebe agreed to create a working group, which means deepening of cooperation on operative-technical level and conduct joint investigations on certain criminal cases.
