Minister of Internal Affairs Giorgi Mgebrishvili held meeting with the deputy chief of the mission of the United States to Georgia-Nicholas Berliner.
At the meeting sides positively assessed the efficient and intensive cooperation between the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia and Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) of the United States and discussed prospects to further cooperation in the future.
Gigi Mghebrishvili discussed the ongoing and current projects of the Ministry of Internal Affairs held in the direction of the fight against drugs. The Minister of Internal Affairs of Georgia has underlined the successful operation of the drug-transit division at the Central Criminal Police Department of the MIA, which resulted in revealing several important routes of drug trafficking.
Deputy chief of mission of the US, who ends his three-year work in Georgia, thanked Giorgi Mgebrishvili for fruitful cooperation.
"I was impressed with the level of cooperation that the two countries have. I would particularly like to point out cooperate with the Ministry of Internal Affairs, which is a confirmation of the unique relationship between Georgia and the United States "-stated Nicholas Berliner.
At the meeting, the important role of the US Embassy in the development of the capacity building of Ministry of Internal Affairs and in establishing western standards was underlined.
At the end of the meeting Georgi Mgebrishvili thanked deputy chief of mission for the support of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and wished him success.
