Mr. Giorgi Gakharia, the Vice Prime Minister and the Minister of Internal Affairs of Georgia, held a meeting with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Federal Republic of Germany to Georgia, H.E. Heike Peitsch. The meeting was also attended by the Deputy Head of Mission, Monika Lenhard and German Police Attache, Stefan Ehlert.
Parties mentioned tight and efficient operational cooperation existing between the law- enforcement agencies of Georgia and the Federal Republic of Germany and discussed the perspectives of enhancing the cooperation.
Mr. Giorgi Gakharia stressed the role of police attaches in deepening international police cooperation and the importance of opening the office of German Police Attache in Tbilisi. Parties discussed the effective cooperation between Georgia and the Federal Republic of Germany in the issues related to the readmission of illegally residing persons.
The Minister of Internal Affairs of Georgia presented to the Ambassador the Ministry’s ongoing and planned reforms. Parties outlined the plans of future cooperation. Mr. Giorgi Gakharia expressed his gratitude to the German side for its contribution to the capacity building of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia.
