“Today we are officially opening the tourist season in Adjara, welcoming it with enhanced resources, updated gear and equipment. The relevant units of the Ministry of Internal Affairs are fully mobilized to ensure safe environment for vacationers” – noted the Minister of Internal Affairs of Georgia, Geka Geladze in his speech during an event in Batumi held in connection with the opening of the tourist season.
The Minister reviewed steps taken by the Agency to ensure a safe tourist environment for local vacationers and foreign visitors and noted that the safety of guests is one of the most important preconditions for the successful tourist season.
“We - the police officers, patrol- inspectors, security police officers, border guards and rescuers, have undertaken huge responsibility in terms of ensuring public order, the rule of law and civil security.
The safety and security of tourists and local vacationers greatly depends on the proper operation of our Agency. Therefore, we are approaching the summer season as mobilized as possible, with an enhanced resources, updated gear and equipment,”- noted Geka Geladze.
In his speech, the Minister of Internal Affairs focused on the importance of the active work of various departments of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
“Our structural unites work in coordination with representatives of various government agencies, as well as local government authorities, in order to ensure public order and security in the region at the highest level.” - noted the Minister of Internal Affairs.
Minister of Internal Affairs, Geka Geladze made special emphasis on the Emergency Situations Management Service and stated the following - “At the beginning of the summer season, special attention is being paid to strengthening the Emergency Situations Management Service. Thanks to our hero rescuers, many lives are rescued each year during the tourist season. This year, more than 250 rescuers will be ensuring safety of citizens along the Black Sea coast, and more than 40 floating means of transportation will be ready to engage whenever it’s necessary. Rescuers in Adjara, Guria and Samegrelo will fully cover the area of the Black Sea coast and will be equipped in accordance with latest standards.”
The Chairman of the Government of the Autonomous Republic of Adjara congratulated the residents of Adjara region on the opening of the tourist season. As Sulkhan Tamazashvili noted, this year, the number of tourists in Adjara region is increasing, and therefore, the region welcomes vacationers with updated tourist products and services.
“We believe that this year, we will have a very successful season.
It is worth noting that the number of visitors in the region is growing, and so is the income accumulated from tourism.
Adjara is welcoming the holiday season with updated tourist products and services. Many new accommodation, catering and entertainment facilities have been opened, both in seaside resorts and in mountainous municipalities as well.
This year we will gradually open many more new tourist facilities, including the longest two-lane zipline of Europe, which is located in Chirukhi.
Along with all that has been mentioned, the protection of public order and health is of paramount importance. I would like to express my gratitude towards the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the fact that the police and rescue forces are working very intensively during the tourist season, ensuring safety of both locals and tourists.
I am deeply assured that under the conditions of stability and continuous peace, the tourist season will be successful and this year the Autonomous Republic of Adjara will achieve double-digit economic growth "- stated the Chairman of the Government of Adjara, Sulkhan Tamazashvili.
Within the frames of the event, the Minister of Internal Affairs awarded six employees of the Emergency Situations Management Service with special medals “For Courage”.
The event was attended by the First Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs - Roland Meskhi, Deputies - Aleksandre Darakhvelidze, Mariam Tabatadze, Shalva Tadumadze, Giorgi Butkhuzi and heads of various departments of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
The event was also attended by the Chairman of the Supreme Council of the Autonomous Republic of Adjara - Davit Gabaidze, members of the Government of Adjara and the Supreme Council, Acting Mayor of Batumi, Giorgi Murvanidze, representatives of local authorities and other invited guests.
