According to the report of the European Commission Georgia successfully continues to fulfil the requirements of the Visa Liberalisation Action Plan.
Under the visa suspension mechanism, the Commission presented the report assessing the fulfilment of visa free regime benchmarks by the countries enjoying the visa free movement with the EU.
The fourth report highlights that Georgia successfully continues to undertake relevant measures as well as takes actions to fulfil the recommendations issued within the third report of the EU Commission. Activities undertaken by the Ministry of Internal Affairs are positively assessed, including:
• Increasing the existing resources for border management;
• Measures undertaken to decrease irregular migration of citizens of Georgia to the EU;
• Successful cooperation on the effective implementation of Readmission agreement and return of citizens of Georgia irregularly staying in the EU;
• Signature of renewed working arrangement with Frontex; In the context of successful cooperation with Frontex, deployment of Georgian police officers to concerned EU Member States’ airports, as well as the increased number of Frontex officers;
• Participation of the Liaison Office of the Ministry of Internal Affairs at Europol in the work of the European Serious Organised Crime Centre (ESOCC).
• Strengthening international law enforcement cooperation;
• Successful work of the police attaches of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia.
