Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs - Ioseb Chelidze, who is in charge of operational fire management headquarters in Borjomi municipality, held a working meeting with the head of emergency management service, Temur Mghebrishvili.
The deputy minister and the head of the emergency management service summarized the ongoing localization and liquidation works in the area affected by fire and assessed the situation on the ground.
According to the latest data, in Borjomi municipality, 90% of fire sources have been put out in all three sectors affected by fire. Active fire extinguishing works are underway in the remaining 10%, the monitoring of sectors continues.
For seven days, employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs have been fighting the fire in Borjomi municipality. Along with hundreds of firefighters and rescuers, representatives of various departments of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Ministry of Defense, Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure, as well as relevant services of the Ministry of Environment and Agriculture are actively involved and operate in coordination to extinguish fire. All types of firefighting equipment, 4 helicopters of the Border Police and 3 specialized firefighting aircrafts of the Republic of Turkey also take part in special firefighting measures.
For preventive reasons, fire and border aviation will stay deployed in Borjomi valley, as well as fire-rescuers and employees of various ministries who still remain on the ground and continue their work.
