Within the framework of the ongoing criminal police reform in the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the area of operation of Community Officer Institute is gradually expanding.
After Tbilisi and Rustavi, the Community Officer Institute will be launched in Batumi as well.
Officers were selected through competition. Candidates who won the competition took the policeman's oath and started studying at the Academy of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
Rector of Police Academy - Zurab Zubadalashvili attended the ceremony. He congratulated Community Officers on taking the police oath and wished them success in their future work.
At the oath-taking ceremony, the audience honored the memory of the employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs who heroically fell in the line of duty with a moment of silence. The national anthem of Georgia was played at the ceremony.
The competence of Community officer includes such important issues as: responding to problems and challenges related to minors, domestic violence, neighborhood disputes, illegal migration, vulnerable groups. Its functions and duties also include: planning and implementation of measures focused on crime prevention; collection, systematization and primary processing of information; Litigation of cases of administrative offenses; Responding to witnessed crime.
The number of Community Officers will gradually increase across the country and the institute will be launched in all major cities.
