By the initiative of Mr. Giorgi Mghebrishvili, the Minister of Internal Affairs a new tradition was launched on International Day for Protection of Children. From now on, on June 1 of every year, the title -"Hero of the 112"- shall be conferred to all children who know how to behave in case of emergency and provide assistance to close people in time.
Under this initiative, Mr. Davit Vardiashvili, the Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs conferred a title “Hero of the 112 ”on 4 teenagers. The Deputy Minister hosted the children in the LEPL – “112” and awarded them with medals and certificates made especially for them.
In cases of emergency the "Heroes of the 112" had timely made calls to the emergency number and cooperated with the operators observing all acting rules: 13 years old Giorgi Kostava called to 112 for ambulance and thus tried to help his friend; 12 years old Lizi Kumsiashvili in order to avoid nervousness of a pregnant mother of her friend did not tell her about the illness of her son and called an ambulance herself; 11 years old Dea Geladze made a targeted call to “112” in order to provide assistance to her sick grandmother; 15 years old Nino Adamashvili made a call to the Emergency Response Center from Bolnisi and informed the operator about the danger of falling down of a tree near her house.
After the awarding ceremony, the children had a tour around the Emergency Response Centre and met the operators, who had helped them in the difficult moments.
