In accordance with the decision of the Prime Minister of Georgia, Irakli Garibashvili, Georgian rescuers went to Turkey to participate in the rescue operations due to the earthquake that took place in the Turkish Republic. Appropriate machinery has also been sent to the neighboring country.
In order to respond to the aftermath of the devastating earthquake in Turkey, 60 firefighters, as well as relevant rescue gear and machinery, were sent from the base of the Main Division of Emergency Response under the Emergency Situations Management Agency of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
The team of Georgian firefighters and rescuers, which departed for Turkey, is comprised of firefighters and rescuers trained for eliminating the consequences of earthquake and implementation of various rescue operations.
Rescue activities of Georgian firefighters will be implemented and coordinated under the guidance of the head of Emergency Situations Management Service - Teimuraz Mghebrishvili.
Today, the Minister of Internal Affairs of Georgia, Vakhtang Gomelauri, sent a letter of condolence to the Minister of Interior of the Republic of Turkey, Suleyman Soylu, on behalf of the Ministry, and expressed his sorrow over the natural disaster.
