Research and Development Department

With the purpose of coordination, monitoring, reforms implementation, institutionalization of the policy and planning processes in the system of the Ministry of Internal Affairs the Reforms and Development Agency was established within the Ministry.

The Agency - through coordination with the relevant units develops strategic documents, development policy and plans of the Ministry; planning of the reform process and monitoring coordination; elaboration of the mechanisms for police and civil society involvement for maintenance of transparency and accountability of the system. The Agency closely cooperates with the law enforcement agencies of the foreign countries and international organizations to share their best practice.

The Agency developed the Strategy for 2013 of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia; the Strategy focuses on the issues of public order and civilians security, emergency situations, migration processes, road and border security, as well as the situation concerning the fight against illegal circulation of drugs, trafficking, corruption, terrorism, cybercrime, the challenges faced by the Ministry and the priorities to be carried out in this direction. This year the Agency plans to elaborate the long term development strategy of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
