The Minister of Internal Affairs, Vakhtang Gomelauri, held a meeting with the police chiefs of Tbilisi and regions of the country. First Deputy Minister - Shalva Bedoidze also attended the meeting with the directors of police departments.
Vakhtang Gomelauri got familiarized with detailed information from police chiefs regarding the fight against crime in the capital and regions, as well as on preventive policing measures.
The minister drew attention to the implemented and ongoing reforms, the results of the fight against crime and reviewed challenges existing in the direction of public safety. At the meeting, Vakhtang Gomelauri noted that the number of certain types of crime has decreased this year, while crime solving index increased.
The minister also discussed infrastructure projects planned for next year- the initiative of the head of the Georgian government about increasing salaries of the employees of the ministry by 20%, as well as about the necessary works and preventive measures for improving police activities.
Vakhtang Gomelauri thanked the employees for their effective work and stressed that complex measures in the direction of fighting crime will be actively continued in 2023.
