With regards to the dispute between the patrol police officer, Gela Kvashilava and “TV Pirveli”, the final verdict has been announced by the court. According to the judge, the information spread by the TV company has tarnished the honor and dignity of the patrol – inspector and was completely slanderous. Tbilisi City Court ordered the TV station to pay compensation for moral damage to the patrol inspector, as well as to broadcast notice of the court decision on Saturday.
On January 30 of the current year, TV Company “Pirveli” accused Gela Kvashilava, the unit commander of Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti Main Division of the Patrol Police Department under the Ministry of Internal Affairs, of drug trafficking. The same TV station published his photo even though the author of the story was informed by the Department of Strategic Communications of the Ministry of Internal Affairs that the information was false.
Gela Kvashilava, the unit commander under Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti Main Division of the Patrol Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, filed a lawsuit in the Tbilisi City Court over the false and unsubstantiated information spread about him by TV Company “Pirveli”.
The court found the evidence presented by Kvashlava's lawyer in the case to be infallible; therefore, the court ruled that Gela Kvashilava had nothing to do with drug trafficking, while “TV Pirveli” was aware that the obtained information was incorrect and deliberately misled the public.
