Presentation of the fiction-documentary film –“Who Assassinated Ilia” was held in Telavi at Ilia Gogebashvili University. The film is dedicated to the assassination of Ilia Tchavtchavadze and depicts events that evolved on the final path to Saguramo.
The presentation was attended by the MIA Archive Director Omar Tushurashvili, other representatives of the archive, Vice Rector of the MIA Academy Pridon Diasamidze, Rector of Telavi State University Avtandil Gheleghutashvili, Deputy Governor of Kakheti Zurab Arsenishvili, representatives of Telavi city hall, historians, academic personnel and students. After the presentation held in Tbilisi, the film has been also introduced in regions of the country.
By means of the new film public got familiarized with completely new version on the assassination of Ilia Tchavtchavadze, which is backed up by the assumptions of historians and researchers. Actions take place in three various periods of time- on the day Ilia Tchavtchavadze was assassinated, in Bolshevik era, when accused persons were convicted and present day which enables to conduct reconstruction of events and research by means of contemporary equipment.
As a result of the joint activities with researchers, MIA Archive employees discovered details previously unknown to the society on the assassination of Ilia Tchavtchavadze, which is depicted in the film. With the assistance of the researchers, complete reconstruction of assassination scene was made. New study of Ilia Tchavtchavadze’s case of murder was also initiated, which was stored in MIA Archives and comprised of 11 volumes. MIA conducted habitus-expertise at Forensic Main Division, while in Levan Samkharauli National Forensics Bureau expertise on the autopsy conclusion of Tchavtchavadze’s body was held repeatedly.
In the fiction-documentary film the role of Ilia Tchavtchavadze is played by Kote Tolordava while the role of his spouse is performed by the actress Nanuka Khuskivadze. Fiction-documentary film also features Gogi Kavtaradze, Givi Berikashvili, Paata Mkheidze, Irakli Cholokashvili, Zaza Iakashvli and others. Film was directed by Mikheil berinashvili, screenplay also belongs to the mentioned person, while the soundtrack was composed by Niaz Diasamidze.
