At the Ministry of Internal Affairs winners of contest, held within the frames of social campaign – “Don’t Drive when Drunk” was held.
Contest lasted for two months in the social network of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and aroused huge interest from the society. As a result, two winners were named: Tsotne Gegetchkori, for the best photo and author of the best slogan – “Don’t Drink Your Life Away when Driving” Lado Gogoladze. Best photo and slogan were printed on banners, which will be placed at police station for two weeks. Winners received laptops as gifts from the Ministry of Internal Affairs. Gifts were handed out by the Deputy Head of Patrol Police Levan Matchavariani, who congratulated winners.
Within the frames of the mentioned social campaign social videos were prepared and disseminated in social networks and aired by the TV channels. Aim of the social campaign was to prevent cases of drunk driving and to raise awareness among society regarding risks of drunk driving that citizens and drivers might face.
It is also notable that Patrol Police Department registered 228 car accidents caused as a result of drunk driving in 2013, owning to which 27 people died, 327 got injured and 1665 citizens received tickets for drunk driving.
