On January 31th “Commission on the Issues of Illegal Interception and Private Life Recordings” has held last meeting. At the meeting members of commission submitted report on activities held by the working group, discussed and positively assessed the draft law on amendments to the Criminal Code of Georgia with the aim of ensuring protection and inviolability of private life.
It appeared that most part of the video files contained footage on political parties opposing the former government as well as information on: political leaders, officials their places of meetings, places of residences, public figures with different political views, civil activists, employees of various organizations, civil servants and etc.
All of the above mentioned indicates, that such crime took place on the regular basis within the government system. “Commission on the Issues of Illegal Interception and Private Life Recordings” made the decision that most part of the materials will be transferred to the Prosecutor’s Office for investigation and rest of the footage with intimate scenes and non-identifiable individuals and damaged ones were subject to destruction.
