The Sixth Meeting of State Commission Supporting Suppression of Distributing New Psychoactive Substances was held at the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia. According to the legislation, the Commission is composed of the representatives from the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Ministry of Labour, Health and Social Affairs and Ministry of Finance of Georgia.
At the Meeting the MIA representatives presented the report according to which, in October 2014 as well as in previous months, illicit traffic in new psychoactive substances has significantly decreased throughout the whole territory of Georgia. In accordance with the information presented by the representatives of Revenue Service of the Ministry of Finance of Georgia, only one case of illegally importing so-called “Bio Drugs” was identified at the borders in October, what indicates the effectiveness of the State policy.
The Commission members also discussed the issue of preparing the Second Quarterly Report of the State Commission. The objective of this Report is to analyze the existing situation related to new psychoactive substances and to ensure transparency of the State activities in this regard.
Once again, the Commission members highlighted the important role of close inter-agency cooperation in the fight against new psychoactive substances.
