Within the frames Eastern Partnership cooperation in the fight against irregular migration – supporting the implementation of the Prague Process Action Plan” the workshop was held on the issues of border management which was held at “Courtyard Marriott” hotel, Tbilisi. Project is funded by the European Union. The workshop was opened under the organization of International Center for Migration Policy Development and last for two days.
The workshop is aimed at bringing together border management agencies of various countries and improving co-operation between them. At the meeting the Ministry of Internal Affairs was represented by Patrol Police and Border Police Departments. In the workshop representatives of national authorities on border management from of Azerbaijan, Latvia and senior experts from the Ministry of Hungary were also presented.
The project is implemented by the State Border Guard of Latvia, the Border Guard of Poland, the Schengen Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Romania, the Bureau of Border and Aliens Police of the Presidium of the Police Force of Slovakia, and the International Centre for Migration Policy Development (ICMPD) under the lead of the Ministry of Interior of Hungary. The project will contribute to enhanced strategic and operational cooperation in the Eastern Partnership region primarily aimed at preventing irregular migration and supporting border management in a more efficient and coordinated way.
