Ministry of Internal Affairs continues participation in “Maintenance of law and crime prevention program for public schools" project. Within the frames of the mentioned project inspector-investigator of Samtskhe-Javakheti Regional Main Division Nona Gokishvili and Tamta Gelashvili along with civil education teachers Shorena Khmaladze and Zaza Natenadze held lesson on the legal culture at public schools N1 and N5 of Akhaltsikhe.
Lessons on legal culture are held within the frames of the Project -“Legal Development Program” which is implemented by the Ministry of Internal Affairs in cooperation with the Ministry of Education and Science and with the support of the “PH INTERNATIONAL”. MIA representatives who conduct lessons on legal culture on the regular basis are specially trained for the mentioned program.
The lessons are interactive, contain role plays and are aimed at awareness rising of the students about their rights and responsibilities in areas of rule of law and justice. The topics of the manual for 9th grade pupils are the following: Concept and the meaning of the Legal Culture; Juvenile and Law; Violence (Domestic Violence, bullying at schools); Bad habits and negative consequences; Organized Crime (trafficking in Human Beings, Illicit trade of narcotics and arms); Judiciary.
The mentioned project is implemented with the financial support of the US Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL). Lessons on law cultures are held in 20 public schools of Tbilisi, Kutaisi, Rustavi and Akhaltsikhe. Project was implemented by the inspector-investigators and school teachers at 32 public schools. The lessons were held at public schools of Tbilisi, Akhalkalaki, Poti and Telavi.
