Employees of Ajara Regional Division of Emergency Situations Management Agency in partnership with Black Sea Eco Academy and “Oxsfam” international organization held theoretical and practical training in Keda municipality for volunteer rescuers. The mentioned activity was held within the frames of “Sustainability Promotion of Communities in South Caucasus” project which is funded by European Commission.
The training is aimed at formation of groups which will be comprised of volunteers to make response on emergency situations, their support and active involvement in preventive measures planning process, proper risk assessment and development of special skills necessary for making due response during emergency situations. The mentioned activity will help locals to improve organizational and technical skills in order to protect their natural habitats during catastrophes.
Within the frames of the event volunteer rescuers learned how to move in difficult terrain conditions and render first aid to the victims. It is planned to hold similar training in three municipalities of Ajara region namely in: Keda, Khulo and Shuakhevi. Trainings will be held on the regular basis and cooperation will continue in the future.
