Anti-drug campaign launched by the Ministry of Internal Affairs was joined by basketball players. Today at Basketball Academy Hall, within the frames of the campaign, Vice President of Basketball National Federation Vladimer Boisa, NBA star Zaza Pachulia and coach of the national basketball team Kote Tughushi held meeting with basketball youth team. Professional basketball players have shown master class game to the young players. At the meeting sportsmen also discussed the importance of healthy lifestyle and hazards of consuming synthetic drugs. Basketball players have called on Georgian youth to get involved in sport activities and eradicate drugs in their lives.
Ministry of Internal Affairs launched anti-drug campaign on March 24. Aim of the campaign is the prevention of the use of synthetic narcotics and providing public with information on the mentioned subject. Slogan of the campaign is – “Change the attitude together”. Doctors who participated in social videos will inform public on threats and dangers of the so called bio drugs. Social videos will be aired by TV channels and radios and shown at cinemas and disseminated in social networks.
It is notable that under the initiative of the Ministry of Internal Affairs “Law on Psychotropic Substances” was adopted which came into force on May 1. According to the mentioned law manufacture, purchase, keeping, transportation, transfer or distribution, also illegal taking into or out of the territory of Georgia of a new psychoactive substances is prohibited and relevantly such actions will be the subject of criminal responsibility.
