At the Academy of the MIA by the organization of the United Nations Women's Organization (UNWOMEN) and support of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the students of the special professional educational program the pilot training on the topic of gender equality has been launched. The opening ceremony of the trainings was attended by Erika Kvapilova, the representative of the UN Women in Georgia. The training course is led by Nodar Saakashvili, the Head of Patrol Police Faculty of the Academy of the MIA and Irina Zhvania, the instructor of the UN Women Organization. Within the frames of the trainings the students will receive information on the issues of gender, gender equality and gender policy.
The mentioned module is included in the special professional education programs of patrol-inspectors and district inspectors. Upon conclusion of four pilot trainings, the Academy will continue to implement this course by its own resources. The aim of the training is to enhance the knowledge of police officers on equality before the law and inadmissibility of any form of discrimination on the basis of study of the international and local legal acts.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs and the United Nations Women's Organization permanently cooperate, jointly implement different important projects, trainings and activities.
