Representatives of various MIA departments and Public Relations Units of various MIA agencies took four-day training in Media Relations and Social Media at MIA Academy. The training was held under the organization of the US Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL). The training was led by Bill Grogan -chief of police department of Dunwoody town, Georgia, United States and specialist in public relations- Tim Burrows.
Training was aimed at sharing experience on established rules and standards of communication in the United States in terms of public and social media relations. The following topics were discussed at the training: how to use social media in order to deliver relevant messages to the society; benefits of using social media and results of cooperating with media. At the training experience of various US police Departments in public relations were discussed as well as activities conducted in the mentioned field by the relevant services of the Ministry of Interior of Georgia.
Studies included discussions on the high-profile cases around the world and practical exercises according to the various scenarios.
It is notable that MIA representatives provided US experts with information on informative-social campaigns successfully implemented by MIA in the last three years.
By means of sign language representatives of MIA public relations services, together with foreign experts presented main messages on newly implemented services, offered by “112” to deaf and hearing impaired citizens.
At the end of the training participants of training were handed out certificates.
