Under the initiative of the Minister of Internal Affairs Giorgi Mgebrishvili, MIA Academy has introduced distance learning method.
First course of the distance learning will be undergone by employees of Temporary Detention Isolator. The course covers human rights, juvenile detention regulations, healthcare issues and other topics related to the temporary detention isolators. The course is conducted by the lecturers from the relevant fields. At the first stage 20 employees from regional units of the temporary detention isolators will undergo training.
First course of the distance learning involved students from 10 cities of the country. The lecture at the MIA Academy was attended by director of temporary Detention Isolator Department Ushangi Papuashvili. Rector of the academy Givi Mikanadze has addressed the students from Telavi and wished them luck.
Aim of the distance learning is to enable MIA employees and academy students have access to quality education. Introduction of this type of training will contribute to having police officers with proper skills and knowledge, academic education while fulfilling police duties.
Distance learning is now available in 10 cities of the country: Zestaponi, Samtredia, Telavi, Ozurgeti, Batumi, Zugdidi, Poti, Borjomi, Gori and Rustavi. MIA Academy plans to further develop the mentioned service and make it available in all regions of the country.
