The officers of Sagarejo police division of Kakheti police department as a result of the immediate operative-investigative activities detained Giorgi P. (DoB 1990) for illegal purchase and keeping of firearm and resistance to police officers.
Detainee made shots in the air from the automatic weapon on Rustaveli Street, Sagarejo. Law enforcers who were fulfilling their duties called on Giorgi P. to preserve order. Giorgi P. did not obey to the legal demand of the policemen and opened fire. Law enforcers managed to disarm Giorgi P. and took him under arrest at the scene. During the personal search police seized unregistered AKC automatic weapon and 71 bullets as evidence. While holding searching in the detainee’s house law enforcers seized 1 cartridge. Giorgi P. has already pleaded guilty.
Investigation is in progress on the fact of illegal purchase and keeping of firearm and resistance to police officers, article 236, II and III parts and article 353 I part envisaged by the Criminal Code.
