The officers of Ajara division of the Patarol Police Department and Customs Department of the Revenue Service as a result of jointly held operative-investigative activities detained Turkish citizen Osman A. (DoB 1984) at Sarpi border checkpoint for illegal purchase, keeping and illegal import of psychotropic substances to Georgia.
While searching detainees luggage police officers seized 60 pills, containing codeine wheight of which amounts to 0,9 gr. Law enforcers also seized 60 pills of “Diladamn” which contains 3,6 gr of psychotropic substance.
Investigation established that detainee ilegally imported 120 pills through Sarpi border checkpoint from the Republic of Turkey. Detainee has already pleaded guilty.
Investigation is in progress on the fact of illegal purchase and keeping of drugs and bringing narcotics on the territory of Georgia, illegal purchase, keeping and illegal import of psychotropic substances and to Georgia article 260, I part and article 262 I part, 261 III part, sub-paragraph “a” and article 263 I part of the Criminal Code.
