On the basis of operative information the officers of Central Criminal Police Department as a result of searching and investigative activities held simultaneously in Tbilisi and Batumi six individuals were detained: Giorgi G. (DoB 1968) Davt L. (DoB 1992) Merab L. (DoB 1987) Shalva A. (DoB 1990) Zurab T. (DoB 1985) and Zurab O.
Investigation established that detainees, under the threats of liquidation demanded from Giorgi V. 3300 GEL and illegally appropriated the mentioned sum. During the personal search of Zurab O. law enforcers seized the mentioned sum, while “Mauzer” pistol with one cartridge and 7 bullets were seized from Shalva A.
Investigation is in progress on the fact of extortion and illegal purchase and keeping of firearms and armament, articles 181, II part, sub-paragraph A and article 236, I part of the Criminal Code.
