The officers of Zugdidi regional division of Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti Regional Main Division have seized illegal firearms and ammunition.
Law enforcers presumed the movement of BMW made vehicle as suspicious in the village of Tkaia and demanded to stop. Police order was ignored by the driver and continued movement, on the basis of which policemen started to pursue the vehicle. During the special activities BMW vehicle driver got involved in the car accident due to which driver and his accompanying person abandoned the car and left the crime scene.
At this moment both of the individuals are identified and operative-investigative activities are underway.
During the car inspection law enforcers seized: 2 AKC system automatic weapon with 17 magazines and 579 bullets, one hand grenade, five missiles, rocket launcher and three vests for placing magazines.
Investigation is in progress on the fact of illegal purchase and keeping of firearms and ammunition, article 236, I part of the Criminal Code.
