The officers of Poti police Division of Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti Regional Main Division, as a result of operative-searching and investigative activities detained Levan Gh. (DoB 1974) and Jumber L. (DoB 1961) who were detained for robbery committed by the group in large quantities.
Investigation established that Jumber L. planned to appropriate 20130 kg of nuts stores at “Barvil Georgia” container terminal. In order to accomplish his plot Jumber L. contacted the driver of one of the delivery service companies Levan Gh. which transported cargos to Poti port.
Jumber L. proposed Levan Gh. to transport container loaded with nuts to the brick factory located in Poti instead of the Poti port and promised to give him 5000 GEL after realization of the cargo after which Levan Gh. accepted proposal. Lately detainees, along with other persons unloaded the container and illicitly appropriated 20130 kg nuts and thus inflicted fiscal damage to the delivery service company in the amount of 210 157 GEL.
Detainees have already pleaded guilty.
Investigation is in progress on the fact of robbery committed by the group in large quantities, article 177, III part, sub-paragraph A and IV part, sub-paragraph B of the Criminal Code.
