The officers of Central Criminal Police Department as a result of permanent and complex operative-searching and investigative activities which lasted for two months detained members of the criminal group: Vasil L. Mamuka K. Buba B. Nugzar D. Giorgi J. Grigol L. and Luka M. in Tbilisi for illicit Entrepreneurial activity.
Investigation established that detainees accepted illegal bets in connection with various sport events in all regions of Georgia. In order to pay the lost sums players committed various crimes, including theft, robbery, armed robbery which was foiled by the law enforcers several times. Investigation established that instead of the lost sums players mortgaged their movable and immovable properties, including apartments and vehicles. In case if players failed to deliver the lost sum on time, they were subject to bloody skirmishes from the side of detainees and in several cases skirmishes were followed by the facts of suicide.
Investigation also established that vasil L. Mamuka K. and Buba B. were convicted in past for committing the same crime.
Investigation is in progress on the fact of illicit Entrepreneurial activity, article 192, II part, sub-paragraph A, which envisages from 3 to 5 years of imprisonment.
