At the landslide zone employees of MIA Emergency Management Department are holding search and rescue operation in Dariali gorge in round-the-clock regime.
Minister of Internal Affairs Aleksandre Tchikaidze has arrived in the disaster zone and held crises management meeting. Director of Emergency Managemenet Departmen is also in Dariali gorge as well as Zurab Gamezardashvii, Chief of Border Police and other rescue units. MIA rescuers are assisted by Patrol Police as well as Border Police officers.
Rescuers rendered humanitarian assistance to 16 drivers from Kazakhstan, Ukraine and Belarus who were rescued from the disaster zone on May 17 as a result of rescue operation. They were handed over items of personal hygiene and meals.
Foreign drivers were transported to the Larsi border checkpoint with a helicopter, enabling them to criss Georgian-Russian state border with their trucks.
Special group of geologists which includes geologists, geophysicists, glaciologist and geomorphologists have inspected Devdoraki glacier and visually studied the mudslide.
