Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Major General Vakhtang Gomelauri and director of the Strategic Pipelines Protection Department Zaza Pantsulaia along with other representatives of the MIA Special and Emergency Measures Center held an introductory meeting with the newly appointed general manager of BP Georgia Chris Schlueter and security manager Sandro Chitadze.
At the meeting sides discussed security issues related to Georgian segment of the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan pipeline and outlined the significance of measures taken in terms of protection. At the meeting sides also reviewed security aspects of the South Caucasus Pipeline Expansion (SCPX) project.
Sides agreed to create a joint working group comprised of the representatives of the Strategic Pipelines Protection Department of the MIA Special and Emergency Measures Center and BP Georgia in order to ensure coordination related to the project implementation.
At the end of the meeting managers of BP Georgia expressed gratitude to the representatives of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for fruitful cooperation.
