Minister of Internal Affairs Vakhtang Gomelauri met with ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary of Turkey -Elch Zuqi Levent Gumrukchu. The meeting had an introductory character. At the beginning of the meeting Turkish ambassador expressed his grief over the death of the police officer.
At the meeting sides discussed issues of bilateral cooperation reforms implemented by the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia and legislative changes. Minister of Internal Affairs and ambassador outlined the current situation in the region and made a focus on further cooperation between the two countries in the law enforcing sphere. Sides also reviewed security issues in the Black Sea region and the role of Georgian and Turkish police. At the meeting historical friendship between Georgia and Turkey was outlined and perspectives for developing mutual cooperation were defined.
Minister of Internal Affairs thanked Turkish ambassador for the support in the process of reforms implemented in the law enforcing sphere of Georgia.
