2008 Minister of Internal Affairs Giorgi Mghebrishvili met family members of the police officers fallen as a result of the August War 2008 and had a personal conversation with them. The meeting was attended by family members residing in Tbilisi and from various regions of the country as well. Family members of the killed police officers received financial aid from the Minister of Internal Affairs while children from the same families were awarded with iPad Airs.
Today is the birth day of Tamar Romelashvili-daughter of the killed police officer Gia Romelashvili. Minister congratulated her with the birthday and handed presents.
“Entire country, Ministry of Internal Affairs and me in particular pay tribute to the souls of those men who were killed while defending the country’s integrity. It is too hard for the families to fill the gap after the death of their beloved ones, however the state will always do its best in order to ease their pain and assist them in solving their problems. These guys, heroes are the example that should be passed on to generations”- state the Minister of Internal Affairs Giorgi Mghebrishvili.
As a result of Georgian-Russian war 2008, 19 police officers were killed.
