Due to heavy rains which caused traffic restrictions on the roads in Dusheti municipality of Mtskheta-Mtianeti region, the process of evacuation of citizens stuck in the region is underway.
In order to evacuate the citizens from the region to a safe place, the staff of the Fire and Rescue Department was immediately involved in the process. This morning, border police helicopters were involved in the rescue operation as well.
As a result of the flights carried out by two helicopters of the Border Police, firefighters have already evacuated 170 people from the villages of Dusheti Municipality, including tourists and minors. The rescue operation is still in progress.
