As a result of the examination carried out by the General Inspection of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, identities of persons, who systematically provided Givi Targamadze -member of the “United National Movement” with the information stored in Ministry’s database, have been established. It was ascertained that employee of Patrol Police, Ruslan Baziashvili loged on to Ministry’s protected database with his one-time password authenticator appliance (DIGIPASS), obtained information on citizen Ramaz Devadze and provided Givi Targamadze with photo material depicting Devadze crossing the state border. The mentioned information was lately used by one of the TV companies. It was also established that Ruslan Baziashvili provided Givi Targamagdze with secured information repeatedly from time to time.
Based on the conclusion of General Inspection Ruslan Baziashvili has been dismissed from his position.
Ministry would also like to inform you that Prosecutor’s Office initiated investigation in connection with incident that took place between civilians and patrol-inspectors on January 26, 2015 on Okrokana road, Tbilisi. Since the investigation revealed facts of exceeding official powers and signs of the illegal custody, General Inspection conducted examination on the case materials. Based on the conclusion of the General Inspection patrol-inspector Archil Davituliani and Nika Alikhanashvili were suspended from their duties till the end of investigation.
On the fact of giving out the secured information, nine employees of the agency were dismissed from their positions by the General Inspection of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
Ministry of Internal Affairs calls on political parties to abstain from attempts to discredit police by means of such methods.We would also like to remind police officers regarding the law on police, according to which police officer has no right to use their official power in favor of any political party interests. According to the “Police Code of Ethics” Police officer shall not use official and personal data for private purposes as well as for satisfying the personal interests of close persons. Violation of the provisions of the Code of ethics will lead to legal responsibility prescribed by the law.
