In connection with the incident that took place in Marneuli investigation is in progress under the article 164 of Criminal Code of Georgia, envisaging falsification of voting results. At this moment operative-investigative activities are underway in order to identify and detain wrongdoers. Ministry of Internal Affairs would like to underline that all individuals involved in the mentioned incident will bear strict punishment in accordance with the law in spite of political belonging.
The officers of Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti main division of MIA as a result of operative-investigative activities detained two individuals for committing armed assault on #16 election district located in: village Doshaki, Martvili. Investigation established that on 15 June, 18:00 pm, abovementioned individuals assaulted #16 district, tore the ballots under the pressure of arms and fled from the crime scene. Police found sealed ballots in vicinities of election district. Investigation is in progress under the article 162 of Criminal Code which envisages Interference into Exercising One’s Will in Elections, Referendum or Plebiscite.
Also The Ministry of Internal Affairs accused and detained individuals who participated in incident that took place in village Zezileti, Khoni district. They are accused under article 163 of Criminal Code that envisages Interference into Works of Election or Referendum Commission. Investigation established that accused persons assaulted #22 election district, broke the ballot box and tore the ballots. Police have interrogated persons, who witnessed the incident.
Three individuals were detained in connection with hooliganism that took place in several election districts located in Dedoflistckaro district. Two of them came to the office of election commission located at Rustaveli street, Dedoplistckaro while vote-counting procedure was in progress. Conflict began between them and commission members that continued outside the building. Accused persons verbally assaulted the members of election station. Head of election station was also subject of verbal and physical assault from the side of wrongdoer, who fled from the crime scene afterwards. Investigation is in progress under the article 239 part II of Criminal Code that envisages hooliganism perpetrated by group.
Another incident took place at #20 election station located in #3 kinder garden, Gomelauri street, Dedoplistckaro, where person, under the influence of alcohol verbally and physically assaulted supervisor and made a shot in the air with pneumatic weapon. Investigation is in progress under the article 239 part III of Criminal Code.
Ministry would like to call on political parties and their supporters to abstain from provocative actions. Each person who violates the law will be punished strictly punished in accordance with the law.
